Livestock production here in the United States is becoming increasingly dominated by concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). In a CAFO, animals are crammed by the thousands or TENS OF THOUSANDS, often unable to breathe fresh air or see the light of day. Industrial livestock production is now a leading source of climate changing emissions, a source of water pollution, and a significant contributor of diet-related diseases along with the spread of food-borne illnesses.
We had the opportunity to speak with Dan Imhoff (pictured at left), the editor of “CAFO: The Tragedy of Industrial Animal Factories“.
Although the photographs in this large but compelling book may be quite graphic for some, the book is a must read for every meat eater on the planet!
Dan himself has been an activist in food issues for many years, and is a writer and independent publisher whose many books include “Food Fight“, “Farming with The Wild“, “Paper or Plastic“, “Building with Vision” and “Farming and The Fate of Wild Nature” (all titles linked to Amazon). Dan has appeared on many national news programs including CBS Sunday Morning, CNN, Science Friday, West Coast Live and others.

Seems she gives the same “speech” over and over again, as witnessed by this past week’s Real Estate Convention, where she never even mentioned real estate. Duh! Just don’t forge to send the 100K check and have chilled cold bottled water ready. And don’t you dare forget the damn “bendy straws”. You betcha!
